OMG 2 Trailer Release in HD 1080p: The online release of the trailer for “OMG 2,” featuring Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles, took place last Thursday. The three-minute preview unveils the narrative of Tripathi’s character, who takes legal action against his son’s school. This decision comes after a video of his son circulates on the internet, leading to his expulsion from the school. As his son grapples with the resulting social stigma, Tripathi’s character turns to prayer for a solution, and it’s Akshay’s character who emerges from the sacred Ganges River.
The trailer’s outset clarifies that Akshay’s role isn’t that of Lord Shiva, but rather that of a divine messenger. This likely stems from a directive, possibly from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which differs from “OMG,” where Akshay portrayed Lord Krishna. Similar to the preceding film, where Paresh Rawal defended his case in a courtroom, here too, Tripathi’s character fights for justice, both for himself and his son.

The film is just a mere nine days away from its release, yet promotional endeavors by the creators have been notably absent. “OMG 2” found itself enmeshed in controversies even before its official launch. Speculation was rife about the movie’s censorship certification, with reports hinting at its referral to the CBFC’s review committee. Given the film’s exploration of religious themes, it carried sensitivity within the current political climate.
Ultimately, “OMG 2” secured an A (Adult) certificate from the CBFC. This prompted the board to provide a list of alterations for the creators to incorporate prior to the film’s theatrical debut. The modifications included the removal of frontal nudity visuals, adjustments to visuals featuring what’s described as ‘sculptures of unnatural sex,’ and the exclusion of references to actual places like Ujjain. Additionally, the removal of a condom advertisement from the film’s poster was also demanded.

The movie found itself embroiled in a further dispute when Mahesh Sharma, a priest at the Mahakaleshwar temple, called for scenes filmed at the temple to be excised from the film. In his statement to ANI, he said, “The film ‘Oh My God 2’ has been granted an A certificate by the censor board, indicating content suitable for adults. We are requesting the removal of certain scenes shot at the Mahakal temple, as they have the potential to hurt religious sentiments. Unless our plea is addressed, we are prepared to stage protests nationwide.”
“OMG 2” serves as a sequel to “OMG: Oh My God,” starring Akshay and Paresh Rawal, where Akshay portrayed Lord Krishna. In this latest iteration, while originally intended to depict Lord Shiva, Akshay’s character now assumes the role of a ‘messenger of god’ in line with the CBFC’s suggestions.
