Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg have reimagined the musical movie “The Color Purple” under the direction of Blitz Bazewule. Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for this remastered version, following footage shown at CinemaCon last month. The movie will be released in North America on December 25 and will be released globally on January 18, 2024.

In 2004, “The Color Purple” was adapted into a Tony-nominated musical with writing by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Stephen Bray, Brenda Russell, and Eli Willis.
